An accident in Piatt County yesterday led to a temporary road closure. Illinois State Police say a 16-year-old from Mansfield was eastbound on U.S. 150 when he lost control of his vehicle, went off the roadway, and struck a utility pole. The driver of a tractor-trailer, 51-year-old Craig Welch, of Farmer City was westbound as the crash occurred. As a result of the crash, power lines fell and caused damage to the roof of Welch’s truck. Ameren responded to the scene. Due to the downed lines, Route 150 was closed between Piatt County 1000 East and 1100 East for several hours. The teenage driver was ticketed for improper lane usage.
