(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner is defending his administration’s handling of Legionnaires’ disease at the 131-year-old Quincy Veterans Home. Three more Legionnaires’ cases have been diagnosed this year at Quincy, two years after a six-million-dollar cleanup in the wake of 12 veterans’ deaths. Governor Rauner says the state’s been aggresive, but says Legionnaires’ is a problem everywhere. He said we know more about Quincy’s problem because of the extensive testing done there. Rauner says closing Quincy is not being considered but expanded testing in other state facilities is.
