One of Troy, Illinois’ most respected figures was laid to rest on Friday and was honored with a funeral procession.
Jac, the police dog who spent 8 years with Pontoon Beach Department before retiring, was laid to rest after police detective Mike Raymond and his family decided Jac’s health problems were becoming too much to bear.
Officers of the Metro East Police Department stood at attention as Jac was escorted to the veterinarian’s office. Jac was carried out in his coffin draped under an American flag in honor of his service.
Detective Raymond said that Jac and his son had become best friends.
