Cumberland and Sullivan met up on Friday night in a nonconference matchup in Toledo.
Cumberland took the early lead with a touchdown and a two point conversion in the first quarter.
That was before Sullivan got their offense rolling though. The Redskins answered with 14 straight points and led 14-8 in the second quarter.
Both teams’ offenses exploded in the second half of the second quarter. Sullivan scored 29 first half points to Cumberland’s 22 when the two teams hit the locker rooms for halftime.
Sullivan continued to pile on the points in the second half against the Pirates and would go on to win 46-30 to remain unbeaten in the early part of the season. With the loss, Cumberland is still searching for their first win of the season. The Pirates will attempt to get that win next week when they host Sangamon Valley, the third of four straight home games for Cumberland.
Sullivan will put their undefeated record on the line at Shelbyville next week.
