According to a recent Press Release From the Illinois State Police:
Pesotum, Il. (9/8/16) – The Illinois State Police (ISP), assisted by the Champaign Police Department, conducted an Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement (ACE) bar ID check detail during the late evening hours of Saturday, September 3, 2016. The purpose of the ACE program is to reduce/deter underage drinking in Illinois. The goal of this program is to prevent, deter and take enforcement action in response to violations of laws associated with impaired driving, the sale of alcohol to a minor, the illegal consumption or possession of alcohol or drugs by minors, and increase police presence in the campus area.
As a result of the ACE detail, 20 citations were issued for Possession / Purchase (minor 18 – 20 years old) of alcohol, three citations for Public Possession of Alcohol on a Sidewalk/Street, and one citation for Violation of Liquor License.
The Illinois Secretary of State may suspend or revoke the driver’s license of persons found in possession of illegal ID’s. Suspensions may be for up to one year or longer. In addition, minors convicted of purchase, possession or consumption of alcohol will face a one year suspension of their driver’s license.
During the detail, bar checks were conducted at five bar locations and a Street Sweep in Champaign County. Those locations were as follows:
Kam’s, 618 E. Daniel 6 Citations
Red Lion, 211 E. Green 1 Citation (Liquor License Violation)
Joe’s Brewery, 706 S. Fifth 4 Citations
It’s Brothers, 613 E. Green 7 Citations
Clybourne, 708 S. Sixth 3 Citations
Street Sweep 3 Citations
Total 24 Citations
