Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond hosted Sangamon Valley in hopes of getting their first Little Okaw Valley Conference win.
Arthur was first on the board but not in a very common way. Arthur scored the only points in the first quarter and it was a safety that recorded two points to the Knights.
Sangamon Valley’s offense came alive in the second quarter beginning with a Wyatt Royce seven yard run to go up 6-2 in the second quarter.
Still in the second, Sangamon Valley’s Jimmy Staab ran in from one yard out, and again the extra point failed, the Storm led 12-2.
Sangamon Valley, again in the second quarter, scored on a 25 yard touchdown pass from Stabb to Brendon West to go up 19-2 late in the first half.
Royce scored again in the first half, this time on a 35 yard pass from Staab that gave Sangamon Valley the 26-2 halftime lead.
Two runs from Royce at nine and seven yards each, ended the scoring for Sangamon Valley at 44. Arthur punched it in one more time in the fourth quarter on a Marcus Vanausdoll 81 yard punt return for a touchdown, but the Knights fell 44-10.
With the loss, Arthur drops to 2-4 on the year and 0-3 in conference play. The Knights will host Arcola (4-2) who is coming off a big win, next week.
With the win, Sangamon Valley improves to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in Little Okaw Valley play. The Storm will host Argenta Oreana next week.
