According to a recent press release from Illinois State Police, District 10 Commander, Captain Louis Kink, has announced officers throughout District 10 will be conducting Roadside Safety Checks throughout Champaign and Macon County durring the month of October. Officers on duty will be watchful for drivers operating unsafe vehicles, driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, transporting open alcoholic beverages, or driving under the influence. Roadside safety checks are designed to keep roadways safe by taking dangerous DUI offenders off the road.
Roadside Safety Checks are funded through a grant from the United States Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The grant is administrated by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
