The Tri-County Titans hit the road Friday night to take on Cumberland in Little Okaw Valley play. Cumberland has not lost a Conference game through week six.
They came out early and often, did the Pirates. The scoring began in the first quarter with a pass from Brady Donsbach to Tyson Magee for 27 yards and a touchdown, the two point conversion was ran in by Dane Lewis for the 8-0 lead.
Still in the first, Tanner Kingery found the endzone from eight yards out for the touchdown and also ran in for the two point conversion extend the lead to 16-0.
Cumberland continued to score in the first quarter. Keaton Titus ran in from six yards out this time with a Lewis run for the two point conversion and Cumberland led Tri-County 24-0 after the opening quarter.
The scoring did not stop after the first for the Pirates. This time though, it was not the offense that put up numbers. Dillion Howard fielded a punt at his own one yard line and took it back 99 yards for the touchdown. After the Cameron Wingler two point conversion, Cumberland led 32-0.
Back to the Cumberland offense now, still in the second quarter, Donsbach found Magee again, this time from seven yards out to continue the scoring.
Magee again pulled in a pass from Donsbach for a touchdown, this one from five yards out, and Cumberland went up 46-0.
In the second half, the Cumberland scoring stalled with the continuous running clock.
Tri-County did finally find the endzone once. In the fourth quarter, Cody Hood found Corey Maxedon for a 44 yard touchdown pass. The two point conversion failed and Cumberland downed Tri-County 46-6.
With the win, Cumberland improves to 4-3 overall and remains undefeated in Conference play at 4-0. Cumberland needs one more win to be in the playoff picture. They will travel to Villa Grove next week.
With the loss, Tri-County drops to 1-6 overall and 1-3 in the Little Okaw Valley. Tri-County, who can not make the playoffs after losing last week, will host Palestine next week.
