Shelbyville and Clinton met up on Friday night for a Central Illinois Conference matchup. Both teams still have playoff hopes alive, Shelbyville’s chances were slightly better coming into the game.
Shelbyville struck first, in the first quarter. Turner Pullen found Drake Manship on a short four yard pass for the touchdown. Pullen ran in for the two point conversion and Shelbyville led 8-0 after the first.
Pullen found the endzone again, this time with his legs, from three yards out. The two point conversion failed, but Shelbyville still led 14-0 in the second quarter.
Shelbyville scored once more before halftime. It was Pullen on the ground again, this one was a little longer of a run for Pullen at 25 yards out. Again, the two point conversion failed and Shelbyville went into the locker room with a 20-0 lead over Clinton.
Clinton was shut out in this game while Pullen added another touchdown pass in the forth quarter to Kentrell Beck from 24 yards out.
Shelbyville won 26-0 over Clinton.
A big win for Shelbyville moves them to 5-2 on the season and they are now eligible for make the playoffs, one more win will clinch a birth for the Rams. They are now 4-1 in the Conference also and will play at Central A&M (3-4), who need to win their final two games for a playoff bid.
With the loss, Clinton drops to 3-4 overall this year and will need to win their final two games for a playoff bid, and nothing will be guaranteed even if they do win out. They drop to 2-3 in the Central Illinois Conference and will host Warrensburg Latham (4-3) next week.
