A hit and run investigation continues as a personal injury crash resulted from the incident the evening of Wednesday, November 30th along I-74 westbound at Mile Post 183, just west of Lincoln Avenue at approximately 6:03 PM.
According to a recent press release from Illinois State Police District 10, a driver (still unidentified) of a black Dodge Durango was traveling westbound along I-74 in the left passing lane at fairly high speeds. While driving, the driver of the vehicle struck the rear of a Ford Focus driven by Kristen K. Morgan of Champaign, IL, which caused the car to spin out of control. The Ford’s lost of control then caused the vehicle to create a chain reaction, hitting two more vehicles in the process driven by Steven Gibbs of Mahomet IL and William Uden of Champaign, IL. All vehicles ended up exiting the roadway before coming to complete stop in the right side ditch.
The driver and passenger in the black dodge fled by foot once their vehicle came to a complete stop. They were reported heading northbound by foot and described as being black males wearing all black clothing.
The driver of the Ford Focus, who had three small children and another passenger with her, were all transported to the closest hospital with injuries.
