Illinois State Police have released the results of an Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement (ACE) bar ID Check that was conducted during the late evening hours of Wednesday, May 3rd 2017 in Champaign. The ACE was conducted by ISP along with assistance by the Champaign Police Department. The purpose of program is to reduce/deter underage drinking in Illinois. The goal is to prevent, deter, and take enforcement action in response to violations of laws associated with impaired driving, the sale of alcohol or drugs by minors, and increase police presence in the campus area.
The following bars in Champaign were checked and results are as follows: Kam’s: 5 citations, Joe’s Brewery: 2 citations, It’s Brothers: 1 citation, Clybornes: 0 citations, Red Lion: 1 citation, Firehaus: 0 citations, and Street Sweep: 1 citation.
The project is funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
