According to a recent press release from the Illinois State Police District 12, one is sent to the hospital for non-life threatening conditions after leaving the roadway in a personal injury crash the morning of Monday, May 15th at 25 E. 1/4 mile south of 1700 N. just 5 miles north of Oblong near the Jasper/Crawford County Line.
Preliminary details indicate William L. Hill, 61, of Oblong, IL (Unit 1) was southbound when he attempted to overtake and pass Jack W. Snider, 64, of Oblong, IL (Unit 2) who was also southbound. While in the attempt to pass unit 2, unit 1 left the roadway to the left causing the vehicle to roll over on its side and coming to a rest in the west ditch. Hill was transported to Crawford Memorial Hospital and was charged with improper lane usage and failure to wear a seatbelt.
