According to a recent press release from Illinois State Police District 10, four are sent to the hospital for injuries, resulting from a three vehicle personal injury crash along I-57, northbound, near milepost 186 during the afternoon of Friday, May 26th.
Preliminary investigation details indicate Nancy Flouret, 75, from Deerfield, IL (unit 1) was southbound along I-57 when she lost control of her vehicle and drove off the roadway into the median causing the vehicle to overturn several times and enter the northbound lanes. Flouret’s car than landed on the vehicle driven by Carol Y. Salley, 44, of Mississippi (unit 2) causing both cars to strike Christopher M. Truver, 45, from Keene, TX (unit 3). Unit 1 came to a rest on its driver’s side blocking both northbound lanes. Unit 2 caught fire and came to a rest in the ditch, while unit 3 ran off the roadway and rested in the ditch upright.
The driver of unit 3 was transported to Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital, Mattoon, while the remaining drivers and passenger of unit 1 all transferred to Carle Hospital in Urbana. Flouret was cited for Improper Lane Usage and Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
