Two drivers, including an Edgar County Sheriff’s Office Deputy, sustain significant injuries after a personal injury traffic crash occurred during the evening hours of Thursday, June 8th along Route 133 at Edgar County 1200 East. According to a recent press release from Illinois State Police District 10, preliminary details indicate Deputy Clayton E. Johnson, 30, of Paris, IL (unit 2) was traveling west while an unidentified teen female driver also of Paris, IL (unit 1) was traveling south. Unit 1 failed to stop/yield at the stop sign and collided with unit 2 sending both vehicles off the roadway.
Both drivers were transported by air ambulance to a nearby hospital and sustained significant injuries. Unit 1 was issued a citation for Failing to Yield at a Stop Intersection.
