One suffers minor injuries after a traffic crash along I-57, southbound, at milepost 250 Monday, October 30th at 7:26 p.m. Preliminary details from Illinois State Police indicate John H. Diamond, 31, of Champaign, IL (Unit 1) fell asleep at the wheel and left the roadway striking a guardrail. The collision left his vehicle on the left lane of I-57. Unit 1 was attempting to exit his vehicle, when stuck by Aliza Palmer of Urbana (unit 2) and Michael Bakay of Lemont, IL (Unit 3), who could not avoid the collision with unit 1. Units 2 and 3 sustained vehicle damage, but were able to drive away from the scene and remained un-injured. The driver of unit 1 suffered unknown injuries, however they appeared to be non-life threatening. Diamond was transported to an area hospital for treatment and cited for improper lane usage.
