(Detroit, MI) — Fiat Chrysler is recalling nearly two-million Ram trucks because of a shifter problem. The automaker says the recall mostly covers heavy-duty trucks that can be shifted out of park without the driver’s foot on the brake or possibly even without the key in the ignition. The recall covers certain Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups from 20098 through 2017. Many Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs built between 2011 and 2017 are also included. Fiat Chrysler is working on a fix and says owners will be notified when service is available. The company says it knows of seven injuries that may be related to the issue. They are urging drivers to always use parking brakes as a safeguard.
