(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner says he wants to gradually eliminate when he calls the Madigan tax hike. Rauner told audiences in Carbondale and Carmi today that the rollback of the income tax hike approved over his veto will begin with his budget, which he says will contain spending cuts and money-saving reforms. He claims that will put more money back into the pockets of taxpayers and small business owners and keep it out of the hands of House Speaker Mike Madigan and his Chicago machine. Rauner says he wants to gradually roll back the income tax to three-percent. He hasn’t said yet what reforms or spending cuts he’s planning.
