(Chicago, IL) — The Chicago Blackhawks are banning four fans who were caught directing racist comments at a black player for the Washington Capitals. The four men were quickly ejected Saturday after being heard chanting, “basketball, basketball” at the Capitals’ Devante Smith-Pelly as he sat in the penalty box. Now the team has banned them from any more home games at the United Center. Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville and star Patrick Kane condemned the remarks. The team’s only black player, Anthony Duclair, said he’s confident every one of the 30 or so black players in the league has been subjected to some kind of racism.
