(Chicago, IL) — This week, state lawmakers will take up a package of gun control reforms filed both before and after the Florida school shooting massacre. Among the measures up for votes will be bills to require state licensing of gun dealers, ban bump stocks, raise the gun purchasing age, and impose a waiting period for assault rifles. Mayor Emanuel urged voters to watch lawmakers closely and follow up at the polls if they don’t pass these bills. Other bills would limit high capacity magazines and body armor.
