(Washington, DC) — President Trump is upping the ante in a possible trade war over his proposed steel and aluminum tariffs. Trump fired back at European countries that have blasted his plan by threatening to slap a tariff on their cars. Since Trump announced the tariffs on Thursday, leaders around the world have reacted with hints of retaliation by placing tariffs on American products. The president of the European Commission called the tariffs unreasonable, adding that “reason is a sentiment that is very unevenly distributed” in the world. Trump tweeted this morning that if the E.U increases “their already massive tariffs and barriers on U.S. companies” doing business in Europe. the U.S. will “simply apply a tax on their cars.”
