(Undated) — It’s National Retirement Planning Week and experts say Americans are facing a mounting retirement savings crisis. Cathy Weatherford with the Insured Retirement Institute says it’s never too late to start saving for retirement. A study conducted by the Insured Retirement Institute found that 42 percent of Baby Boomers and 40 percent of Gen-Xers have saved nothing for retirement. Millions of Baby Boomers are getting closer to retirement and are largely under-prepared for it, according to the study. Weatherford says one of the best ways to save is through an employer. These programs through the workplace often match a portion of your earnings for your retirement fund. Experts recommend saving ten to 20 percent of your income as soon as possible, to ensure you’ll be financially comfortable during retirement. For those who are unsure where to start, using a financial planner can help start the saving journey.
