(San Jose, CA) — Facebook will be rolling out a new privacy control feature. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the “Clear History” feature at the company’s F8 developer conference in San Jose today.
Zuckerberg said the feature will allow users to “flush” their history whenever they want, similar to how you clear cookies and history in a web browser. It would clear the history of what you’ve clicked on and websites you’ve visited while on Facebook. He said the update will allow users to see information about apps and websites they’ve interacted with and will be able to clear the info from their account. The announcement comes after Zuckerberg was grilled on Capitol Hill about how the company collects data and how it handled the Cambridge Analytica scandal.
In other news, Zuckerberg announced Facebook is adding dating features where people can meet. Zuckerberg added that privacy will be key to the dating features then joked that it is meant for “long term relationships, not just for hook-ups.” Zuckerberg also announced that Facebook-owned Instagram is getting a video chat feature.
