(Chicago, IL) — A group of non-profits is accusing Trump Tower of endangering the wildlife in the Chicago River. Several environmental groups are planning to sue because Trump Tower hasn’t followed state rules to protect fish and other aquatic life. The skyscraper siphons nearly 20-million gallons of water each day from the river for its cooling system, but the Sierra Club and Friends of the Chicago River say the Trump organization has failed to comply with state law requiring steps to minimize the harm done by their high-pressure intake and discharge process. The state says it will now review the building’s expired state permit to determine if an extension is justified.
