A Westville man has been airlifted following a Serious Personal Injury Crash Wednesday (8/22) in Vermilion County. Preliminary details from Illinois State Police indicate a 60 year-old male of Westville, IL (unit 2) was northbound along IL rt. 1 at Greenwood Avenue when a pedestrian ran in front of his path. In an attempt to avoid the pedestrian, Unit 2 slammed on his brakes and a motorcycle driven by a 28 year-old male of Westville, IL (unit 3) struck unit 2 as a result. The motorcycle drove into the southbound lanes and came to a rest laying on its side. The driver of the motorcycle was airlifted to Carle Hospital Foundation with serious injuries. The pedestrian was cited for crossing at other than crosswalks/failure to yield to traffic and walking improperly on roadway.
