Life-threatening flash flooding and river flooding are expected across the Carolinas as Tropical Storm Florence makes its way inland. The National Hurricane Center says the significant flooding is likely to continue all the way to the southern part of the Appalachians through early next week. Landslides are also a possibility in higher terrain. The coastal water levels are expected to recede through tomorrow. Forecasters say Florence will likely be downgraded to a tropical depression later today, but the region can expect at least two more days of heavy rainfall.
