According to the Illinois State Police, a traffic crash occurred that resulted with personal injury on U.S. Route 45 near Champaign County Road 2300 N early Friday afternoon. According to preliminary details, a 2010 Blue Nissan Versa (Unit 1)was traveling southbound on Route 45 in the left lane and a 2016 Mack Garbage Truck (Unit 2) was traveling in the opposite right lane going Northbound when Unit 1 lost control of the vehicle. Unit 1 crossed into the grass median into the northbound lanes. Unit 2 was unable to avoid Unit 1 and they collided head-on. All three passengers and the driver of Unit 1 were ejected from the vehicle. All parties involved: Unit 1 Driver, Unit 2 Driver, and all three passengers of Unit 1 were transported by an ambulance to an area hospital with serious injuries. There were no seat belts used in Unit 1, Unit 2 was wearing his seat belt. Charges are being withheld until further investigation.
