With Memorial Day and warmer weather upon us, spending time in the water also comes with risks. U.S. Olympic swimmer Rowdy Gaines told NBC’s Today show you always need adult supervision around a pool if there are kids swimming. According to the CDC, drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death for children under the age of five and the second leading cause of death for children under the age of 14. Other safety tips for children include getting swim lessons, become comfortable in the water and learning how to float on your back.
