According to the Red Cross, as of last Friday, over 40,000 units of blood have been lost nationwide, because of the cancellation of blood drives. On Wednesday, March 18, 2020, on the TODAY show the US Surgeon General encouraged Americans to donate blood.
The Red Cross is taking extra steps to ensure the best possible and healthy environment for the NECESSITY of blood donation at the drives and appreciate any and all efforts the donors are making to come out and help.
Here are the Red Cross blood drives scheduled for our area:
Windsor High School blood drive is on for Monday, March 23rd with the hours of 2-6pm in the gym.
First Presbyterian Church in Mattoon, is hosting a drive on Thursday, April 2nd from 2-6pm at the church for anyone that is eligible and able to donate.
