Navy and Marine Corps on Coronavirus Response
(Washington, DC) — U.S. Navy and Marine Corps officials are confirming more positive cases of coronavirus within the military. Speaking at the Pentagon, Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly confirmed additional cases on board the Theodore Roosevelt naval aircraft carrier. Modly says those who have tested positive have been removed from the ship and they are only experiencing mild symptoms. He added that the ship is pulling into a port in Guam and all crew members on board have been instructed not to leave the vessel. Officials say they are starting the process of testing 100-percent of the crew on board for the virus. Modly also confirmed that there are currently 44 positive tests within the Marine Corp, and they have scaled back exercises in an effort to stop the spread.
