COVID-19 Stay at Home Reminder
(Charleston), IL – With Easter around the corner, the Coles County Health Department would like to remind our residents that the Executive Order to “Stay at Home” extends to the activities and church services you may have enjoyed in the past. Residents are directed to stay at home unless they need to go out for essential services. The Governor has directed “all public and private gatherings of any number of people occurring outside a single household or living unit are prohibited.” Unfortunately, this would include church services or gatherings in parking lots or asking the congregation to gather in vehicles for a brief time.
Examples of essential services include, but are not limited to, seeking emergency services, obtaining medical supplies or medication, visiting a home health care professional, obtaining groceries and food, household consumer products, supplies needed to work from home, and products necessary to maintain the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences. Many of the churches in Coles County are posting their service online. This practice allows residents to take part in their regular services while keeping the heath of the congregation and community a priority.
We have to work through this together as a community, using technology that is available to socialize with friends in an effort to keep our community safe.
