The City of Mattoon’s Public Works Department will begin flushing fire hydrants Monday, April 13th, and continue until all lines are flushed. Flushing will be conducted weekdays between 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Be sure to check the water for signs of discoloration prior to doing laundry. If you notice discoloration in the water, let it run until it clears before doing laundry. Water is completely safe to drink at all times while this work is being done.
