(Charleston), IL – Coles County Health Department currently has to date, five laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Coles County.
Detailed contact tracing continues by Coles County Health Department officials per IDPH guidelines. The Coles County Health Department is working to identify and actively monitor individuals who were in contact with the confirmed cases in an effort to reduce the risk of additional transmission.
We can expect additional confirmed cases in Coles County. Stenger encourages all residents who develop flu-like symptoms such as, nut not limited to, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and/or sore throat to stay home and contact their health provider before seeking care. In the event of an emergency requiring immediate assistance, you are encouraged to report to first respondents your symptoms to help control and prevent the spread of any possible transmission of any potential contagious illness. We must continue the discipline of adhering to public health guidance on social distancing, frequent hand washing, disinfecting commonly touched surfaces and staying home, especially during the weekend. “Our thoughts are with the individuals and their families” adds Stenger.
