(Charleston), IL –Coles County Health Department has nine total laboratory confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 with one recovered.
Coles County Health Department receives notification from either IDPH or a hospital laboratory when a positive laboratory confirmed COVID-19 is detected. Coles County Health Department, (CCHD) receives the confirmed information through an IDPH secured system.
CCHD staff contacts the positive case and follows an interview process for contact tracing. CCHD staff ask the positive case to give names and contact numbers of anyone they may have been in close contact with. Close contact is defined as less than 6 feet for more than 10 minutes. To determine possible exposure, the timeline is 48 hours before symptom onset of the positive case.
CCHD staff make daily phone calls to all positive laboratory cases and all close contacts.
IDPH has guidance determining the release from quarantine or isolation of positive laboratory cases and identified close contacts. The factors for release from quarantine or isolation that CCHD staff utilize is based upon symptom length, occupation, and living arrangements.
