Weekly Jobless Claims Fall To 4.427-Million
(Undated) — Far fewer Americans filed unemployment claims last week but the number is still breathtaking. The Labor Department reports just over four-point-four million workers filed first-time claims for benefits. That’s 810-thousand fewer than the week before but it brings the total for the past five weeks to more than 26-million as the coronavirus pandemic grinds down the economy. The biggest increases in claims were in Colorado, New York, Missouri, Florida, and North Carolina. The biggest decreases were in California, Michigan, New Jersey, Georgia, and Ohio.
