Energy Police Chief Letter Disputes Governor’s Powers, Stay-Home Order
(Energy, IL) — A letter written by the police chief of Energy is disputing Governor’s J.B. Pritzker’s COVID-19-related emergency powers and the enforcement of the current stay-at-home order. Shawn Ladd’s letter dated Friday stated that he and his department are not required to enforce any rules or regulations deemed to be in violation of the state or U.S. Constitution. Ladd also said his department is “honor bound to protect the people we serve from tyranny and government overreach.” The letter was intended for the citizens and business owners of the village.
