According to numerous posts on social media, the Mattoon Baymont Inn & Suites, located on McFall road near Route 16 is on fire. Firefighters have not reported what has started the fire, and no injuries have been reported yet.
We will update you once more information becomes available.
UPDATE: The incident occured just after 6 P.M, on Monday night, most of the fire was contained to the roof. Two people were inside when first respondents arrived on scene, but they were able to escape without assistance. The Fire Marshall declared an investigation into the cause of the fire, and the hotel will be closed for a time due to the extent of the damage. No one was injured.
