Charleston School Year to Start Two Weeks Later

In an emergency Charleston School Board meeting this morning, leaders voted unanimously to pass a new plan for starting the school year.

Teacher institute days will be August 25^th and 26^th; remote learning planning days will be August 27^th and 28^th; and the start of the school year will be delayed by two weeks, to August 31^st.  And, the year will start with remote learning.

Action was taken based on the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in Coles County, particularly among youth, and the Orange level warning issued yesterday.
