A wreck in Clark County Saturday night has left a Terre Haute woman dead.
According to the Illinois State Police, 27-year-old Shasta Hawes of Paris, Illinois, was travelling south on 1540 east just north of Wilderness Road in Clark County, when she failed to negotiate a curve, lost control and ran off the left side of the road. The jeep then overturned end over end and came to rest on its top.
Hawes and rear passenger, 23-year-old Brandon Devall of Terre Haute, Indiana, were uninjured. The front seat passenger, 26-year-old Alissa Griffith, also of Terre Haute, was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced deceased on the scene by the Clark County coroner.
Hawes was cited for Reckless Homicide, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Improper Lane Usage. The crash is still under investigation.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
