The Coles County Board is expected to vote on lowering the speed limit on a stretch of road near Lake Paradise tonight, Tuesday, October 13, 2020. Residents signed a petition that led to a traffic study that said such a move is justified. Currently, County Road 280 East does not have a marked speed limit, which means it’s automatically 55 miles-per-hour. If approved, the new speed limit will have a posted 40 mile-per-hour speed limit.
