Thursday, December 3, 2020, Ed Dowd, Executive Director of the Mattoon Chamber of Commerce was a guest on 101.3 WMCI. Here is a brief description of what he covered during the interview:
- The hospitalizations are rising rapidly at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital, some of our local first responders have tested positive for COVID-19 and we are seeing spikes in cases with elderly care facilities. Please show your support for all our local health care workers and first responders! Send them posts of encouragement; thank them if you get the chance to see them in person. Offer them support any way you can. We need them to stay positive and see that our community is behind them 100%.
- The Celebrate Downtown Mattoon Holiday lighted parade is Friday, December 4! Festivities start at 5:30 pm. We will not have some of the usual components due to COVID-19. However, the lighted parade will go on as usual starting at 6:30 pm. We will still have some food vendors and the park will have Christmas music and the 21 foot lighted Christmas tree is up for photo opportunities. The downtown shops will be open until 8pm. This is a great time to support our local businesses run by your friends, families and neighbors!
