One person sustained minor injuries in a crash on I-57 in Effingham County this morning, Wednesday, December 16, 2020.
According to the Illinois State Police, a truck driven by 48-year-old Becky Pizzo, of Lakewood, ran off the roadway, struck a guardrail, and then went back onto the roadway where it came to rest. Another vehicle, driven by 42-year-old Wendy Kerkhove, of Lafayette, Indiana, struck Pizzo’s truck. Pizzo was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. She was also cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
