Education Reform Bill Passes House, Goes To Governor’s Desk
(Springfield, IL) — An education reform bill is headed to Governor J.B. Pritzker’s desk. The measure passed the House and Senate during the Lame Duck Session in Springfield. The proposals are intended to help level the playing field for minority students and students in underserved districts. The reforms would change high school graduation requirements to include two years of foreign language and would increase the number of STEM classes. A new test for incoming kindergarten students would also be used to provide teachers with information on their literacy, math, social, and emotional skills.
