Hunters harvested more deer during the 2020-21 archery and firearm seasons compared to the previous year. 9,401 deer were taken during the most recent season – Just under 55% bucks and just over 45% does. Archery hunters set a preliminary record of 75,544 deer between October 1st and January 17th. Youth hunters took a preliminary total of 2,321 deer during the three-day youth season in October. During the traditional firearm season, a preliminary total of 76,579 deer were harvested. Muzzleloader hunters took 3,447 deer December 11th through 13th, and during the late-winter seasons, the combined preliminary totals were 4,684 deer.
