An Edgar County man and his infant daughter died in an early morning fire today, Monday, March 1, 2021. According to the Paris Fire Department, the home in Vermilion was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived. A woman and two young children did escape. The woman told firefighters that her boyfriend and their infant daughter were still inside. Firefighters entered the structure and found the bodies of 35-year-old Michael Phipps and 1-month-old Nettie Phipps. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
