A fire in the 1800 block of Piatt last night, Tuesday, March 2, 2021, was quickly brought under control by the Mattoon Fire Department. According to Chief Hilligoss, crews were called to the scene just before 6:00 and saw heavy smoke coming from the home, with visible fire in a front room. One resident was evaluated for a non-fire related issue. No other injuries were reported.
