Former Illinois Congressman Ray LaHood is resolving allegations that linked him to campaign finance irregularities. The Department of Justice announced yesterday that then U.S. Transportation Secretary LaHood knew that a 2012 contribution for 50-thousand dollars made by another party actually came from a foreign national. The Justice Department says a criminal investigation showed that LaHood didn’t disclose the check on required ethics forms and made misleading statements to the FBI. LaHood has agreed to repay the 50-thousand dollars and to pay a 40-thousand-dollar fine.
