I-57 South Shutdown MP 229 to 220

UPDATED:  Wednesday, April 14 at 1:10pm: ISP says all lanes are clear and traffic has resumed.  Some backups may occur as traffic returns to a normal pattern

Updated:  Wednesday, April 14 at 11am: ISP says the southbound lanes of I-57 remain shut down.  Expected time to reopen is 1 hour

According to the Illinois State Police, at 9:20am on Wednesday, April 14, 2021:  Traffic is being diverted from I-57 South at Milepost 229.  Vehicles can exit onto Monticello Road, head east (left) then south on Route 45 and reenter I-57 South at Milepost 220.

Please use caution and seek an alternate route.  Expected detour time is 2-3 hours.
