According to Illinois State Police, there was a fatal crash involving two vehicles on Interstate 57 southbound near milepost 221 that happened in the early hours of Wednesday. Preliminary details state that a white 2013 Nissan Quest was driving southbound along Interstate 57 on the right lane when it struck an unknown vehicle. This caused the Nissan Quest to drive off the road, hurdling into several small trees. This ejected the passenger, Fyness F. Reed, 19, from Chicago. The driver of the vehicle was taken to a local hospital via ambulance where she was pronounced deceased. The unknown vehicle left the scene of the crash.
