This Hazardous Weather Outlook, from the National Weather Service, is for portions of central Illinois, east central Illinois and southeast Illinois including Champaign-Christian-Clark-Clay-Coles-Crawford-Cumberland-De Witt-Douglas-Edgar-Effingham-Jasper-Lawrence-Macon-Moultrie-Piatt-Richland-Shelby and Vermilion counties
DAY ONE…TODAY AND TONIGHT… Strong south to southwest winds with gusts of 30 to 35 mph will persist today, especially in the afternoon. This could lead to difficult travel for high profile vehicles. Isolated thunderstorms are possible overnight, especially north of I-70.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY… Periods of showers and thunderstorms will occur Wednesday into Thursday. Some stronger storms will be possible across central and southeast IL Wednesday afternoon and early Wednesday evening with hail and damaging winds of 50 to 60 mph possible. Heavy rainfall is also possible with between 1.5 and 3 inches expected, the highest amounts from I-70 south.
SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT… Spotter activation may be needed on Wednesday afternoon and early Wednesday evening.
