Suspect In Champaign Officer’s Death Identified
(Champaign, IL) — The suspect who allegedly shot two Champaign Police officers has been identified. Officials say 24-year-old Darion Lafayette suffered deadly wounds during a shootout with officers at Town Center Apartments early yesterday morning. Officer Chris Oberheim was shot in the incident and died later at the hospital. A second officer was also shot and is in stable condition.
